drug guardians logo Zoloft Lawsuit Information

Prenatal lawsuits

Lawsuits with claims of birth defects including autism, brain damage and death have been filed against pfizer when women during pregnancy were prescribed to zoloft, especially in the first trimester.

In a 2013 case, pfizer was blasted for not adequately warning women of the risks of taking zoloft while pregnant but instead concealing, suppressing and failing to disclose the possible dangers, resulting in the death of an infant born with multiple birth defects including brain damage. There have been sever counts against the negligence of pfizer, accusing the company of producing and marketing a dangerous drug. Cases claiming negligence of pfizer to warn the public, medical professionals and the fda that zoloft causes birth defects, as well as targeting pregnant women in marketing despite studies linked the drug to increased risk of birth defects.

Negligence/ Placebo Lawsuits

Despite the fact zoloft currently has warnings for increased risk of suicidal thoughts in children to young adults, the drug has been marketed globally as safe and effective for depression, in lieu of the dangerous side effects which have little proven positive effects on depression when compared to placebo trials.

In a 2013 lawsuit pfizer was on blast for the massive marketing campaign designed to convince the public that zoloft has helped millions with depression and was safe, when clinical data was showing contrary data, zoloft’s effectiveness was not superior to placebo trials.
